Amy Sullivan grew
up on the Gulf Coast of Texas. Her desire to live and work in a coastal
environment led her to pursue a successful career in coastal engineering.
After graduating from Texas A & M University with a Maritime Systems
Engineering Degree, Amy worked for the state of Connecticut Department
of Environmental Protection. However, Amy's love of painting, and a
visit to London's Royal Academy of Art-where she was inspired by the
quality of the student's work, culminated in her decision to change
careers and study fine art. Amy obtained a three year certificate from
the fine arts program of the Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
Her love of adventure and the great outdoors led her to the Big Island
of Hawaii. The island's contrasting topography, pristine beaches, and
aloha spirit have provided an excellent opportunity to flourish as an
artist.

Amy's paintings have been exhibited in Hawaii and Connecticut.
Her artwork appears on T-shirts in Connecticut, and she is a resident
artist at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and the Hualalai Four Seasons Resort,
Hawaii, where she teaches hotel guests and demonstrates her painting
abilities. Amy has won awards for her unique pastel seascapes and is
regularly commissioned by island residents to paint views from their
residences.

With her design interest and painting knowledge, Amy naturally
developed her talents in the decorative painting business. She has completed
several large projects on the Big Island including a 7' X 24' mural
in a Kawaihae eatery which depicts a sunset on the Kohala Coast, and
a 10' X 20' beach scene located in a retail clothing store. Her most
demanding work to date has been the rendering of marble on twenty, twelve
foot fiberglass columns located in a private residence. She has also
successfully rendered faux bamboo, various stone effects, bronze, copper
and wood. She enjoys experimenting with different textures and finishes
to create unique living spaces. Amy would be pleased to show you more
examples of her work at any time. Please contact her at the posted address
and number.
